The 19th International Conference on Dielectric Liquids is hosted by the University of Manchester. The university was formed from the merger of Victoria University of Manchester and UMIST, in 2004, to create the largest single-site university in the UK. Parts of the University can be traced back to 1824 with the formation of the Manchester Mechanics' Institute. Twenty-five Nobel Prize winners have worked or studied at The University of Manchester, including Ernst Rutherford (1908), Arthur Lewis (1979) and more recently Andre Geim and Konstantin Novoselov for their graphene research (2010). Many of the University’s achievements and discoveries have shaped the history and the course of the modern world. The conference will be held in the Great Hall of the Sackville Street Building (post code M1 3BU). This majestic Victorian style building situated in the northern part of the campus was built in the early 19th century. Currently, it is one of the main buildings used by the Faculty of Engineering and Physical Sciences at The University of Manchester. |
